With summer’s arrival you can bet there will be a lot of backyard BBQ’s and get togethers, but more importantly, the season for tented weddings is here!
Tented weddings can be just as beautiful as a banquet hall.
What happens when it gets dark? Although the inside of the tent is lit, how do guests find the way to their cars, the bathrooms or their way outside the tent? Big lamps and lights attract mosquitos, moths and other insects! Yuck!
Why not try a one or a few of these ideas?
Torches
Torches can be rented from your décor company and can create a cottagey or beachy feel. These torches can also be filled with mosquito repellent - as long as they are not lit during dinner! If the venue does a lot of outdoor weddings, they might supply them to you at an additional cost.

Lanterns
I absolutely love this idea!
The company Wish Lantern ships to anywhere in the world and offers wish lantern packages. Wish lanterns can be given out to each guest, couple or family. The receiver then writes their wish for the newlywed couple on the lantern and the corresponding wish card. Lanterns are lit and sent off to float in the night sky. The separate wish cards are given to the bride and groom to keep. Lanterns can be sent off one by one, or as a group. As you can imagine the visual effect of this is stunning!
These lantern packages can be ordered from Wish Lantern.
Wish Lanterns are 99% bio-degradable, non-flammable and easy to use.

Candle lanterns can also be used to give some extra light. If you’re having a tented wedding, the washrooms will be located outside. Why not light the way to the washroom and other points of interest for your guests with candle lit lanterns. These lanterns can be placed on the ground, or hung from shepherd hooks. The candles can be surrounded by rocks, shells, crystals, or anything that matches the theme of your wedding!
Paper lanterns can be hung from almost anywhere as well! Many of them can be lit if you plug them in, or operate off of a battery powered light. These can be purchased in all white, or various colours to match your decor!
String Lights
String lights can add a warm feeling to any atmosphere, they can be found at a variety of stores around this time of year as patio lights. You can hang them from a tree, from the ceiling of a tent over guest tables or almost anywhere else you choose!
Notice in the photo below that they also had the tiki torches?
Mason Jars
I’m a big country girl, so this idea might be a little biased to the country bride, but I love candles in mason jars either on tables, on ledges or hanging from trees. This look is so rustic and romantic!

It’s not quite what I was looking for, but so much better.
